Illinois women's soccer senior midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo was called up to the U.S. National Team for its Sept. 3 match against Mexico at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. DiBernardo, a three-time All-Big Ten first team selection, will miss Illinois' match against Illinois State on Sunday before returning to the Illini in time for their two games at Arizona State (Sept. 6 and 8).

DiBernardo, the daughter of former Indiana letterwinner, U.S. Men's National Team player and 1978 Hermann Trophy winner Angelo DiBernardo, was tabbed a Big Ten Player to Watch at the outset of the 2013 season. The Naperville, Ill., native was named to the MAC Herman Award Watch List on Aug. 20, and is also a nominee for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award.

The USA-Mexico match will kick off at 8 p.m. ET and air on FOX Sports 1 as the new network's first international soccer match.
