Three Big Ten Conference women's soccer teams are ranked among the top 25 of the NSCAA/Continental Tire preseason poll, which was released on Tuesday. Penn State enters the 2013 season ranked fourth overall after winning their 15th straight Big Ten title in 2012. Michigan checks in at No. 19 in the preseason poll, while defending Big Ten Tournament champion Ohio State is ranked 23rd. Notably, Illinois collected 31 votes in the preseason poll - the Fighting Illini advanced to the Big Ten Tournament Championship game last November.

The Big Ten women's soccer season officially kicks off on Sunday, Aug. 18, when Michigan State travels to Central Michigan for an exhibition game. All 12 teams will be in action on Friday, Aug. 23. Conference play is slated to begin on Sept. 19, when MSU visits Nebraska. The Big Ten Tournament will be hosted by Illinois from Nov. 6-10.
