The most recent NCAA/NSCAA women's soccer top 25 poll was released, with a season-high four Big Ten Conference teams garnering recognition. Michigan checked in at No. 11, followed by No. 14 Penn State, No. 21 Ohio State and No. 23 Wisconsin.
Michigan, which was ranked No. 14 in last week's poll, improved to 4-0-0 on the season with a pair of home wins last weekend. The Wolverines defeated Eastern Michigan in overtime (2-1) on Aug. 30, before pulling away from then-No. 21 San Diego State last Sunday, 3-1. Penn State dropped a 5-1 decision at No. 5 Virginia last Friday, but defeated La Salle, 5-1, on Sunday in State College, Pa.
Ohio State (3-0-1) moved up three spots in the top 25 poll after going unbeaten against visiting Pittsburgh (W, 2-0) and Arizona (T, 0-0) last week. Wisconsin is making its first appearance in the top 25 this season after completing an unbeaten road trip. The Badgers defeated host Oregon, 2-1, on Aug. 30, before earning a scoreless draw at Oregon State last Sunday.
Illinois, which enters this week's schedule on a three-match winning streak, is receiving votes in the NCAA/NSCAA top 25 poll.
