Defending national champion Indiana remains a top-10 team entering the second week of the men's soccer season. The NCAA/NSCAA top 25 poll was released, with the Hoosiers ranked No. 8. Michigan, Michigan State and Northwestern are also receiving votes in the poll.
Indiana, which received one first-place vote in the poll, dropped a 1-0 overtime decision against No. 6 UCLA at Bill Armstrong Stadium last Sunday in a game that saw the Hoosiers set an attendance record (7,720). Indiana defeated Southern Methodist in its season opener (Aug. 30), 2-1.
Michigan went unbeaten during the opening weekend of the season, defeating Loyola-Chicago (5-1) and earning a 1-1 draw at Bowling Green. Michigan State defeated Western Michigan (4-0) in its season opener, while Northwestern went 1-1, coming up short against UC-Santa Barbara before winning at DePaul in overtime (1-0) on Labor Day.
