Top Drawer Soccer, CollegeSoccer360.com and College Sports Madness revealed the latest women's soccer weekly honors. Garnering recognition from the Big Ten included Michigan's Nkem Ezurike, Nebraska's Emma Stevens, Ohio State's Nichelle Prince and Penn State's Brittany Basinger and Maya Hayes.
A trio of Big Ten players were named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week. Ezurike scored the lone goal in Michigan's 1-0 shutout of Indiana on Oct. 18, and collected two goals in the Wolverines' 3-1 defeat of Purdue on Oct. 20. She became Michigan's all-time scoring leader, reaching 45 career goals. Ezurike also earned Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week honors.
Stevens, who recorded 12 saves in a pair of Big Ten matches, helped the Cornhuskers defeat Wisconsin, 2-1, in double overtime (Oct. 18) and shut out Minnesota, 1-0, in Minneapolis (Oct. 20). She became Nebraska's all-times saves leader, reaching 245 career saves.
Hayes scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Penn State's 4-2 victory over Ohio State (Oct. 17), and collected one goal in the Nittany Lions' 5-0 shutout of Illinois (Oct. 20).
CollegeSoccer360.com announced its Primetime Players of the Week, with Stevens and Basinger being named to the team.
Prince picked up College Sports Madness Big Ten Player of the Week honors after recording a hat trick in Ohio State's 6-1 win over Northwestern (Oct. 20), and collecting one goal in the Buckeyes' 4-2 loss to Penn State (Oct. 17).
Ezurike, Stevens, Prince and Hayes were all named Big Ten Players of the Week on Monday.
In Big Ten women's soccer this week, Purdue will host Indiana, while Minnesota will travel to Wisconsin on Thursday. On Friday, Ohio State will face Nebraska, Illinois will entertain Michigan, Michigan State will compete at Northwestern and Penn State will collide with Iowa.
