Top Drawer Soccer, CollegeSoccer360.com and College Sports Madness announced a collection of women's soccer weekly honors on Tuesday. Earning recognition from the Big Ten included Illinois' Jannelle Flaws, Michigan's Tori McCombs and Keyana Thompson-Shaw and Nebraska's Jordan Jackson.
Three Big Ten players were named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week. Flaws helped her team defeat No. 20 Wisconsin by finding the net twice in Illinois' 3-2 win in Champaign, Ill., on Oct. 12. She currently leads the Big Ten and is tied for second in the NCAA with 15 goals this season. McCombs scored the lone goal in the Wolverines' 1-0 defeat of No. 11 Penn State on Oct. 13, marking the first time Michigan has defeated the Nittany Lions in University Park, Pa. Jackson scored one goal and added three assists to help the Huskers shut out Purdue, 4-0, in West Lafayette, Ind., on Oct. 11.
CollegeSoccer360.com named its Primetime Players of the week, with two Big Ten student-athletes earning honors. Thompson-Shaw anchored a back line that kept Penn State scoreless in the Wolverines' shutout of the Nittany Lions. Flaws was named a Primetime Player of the Week, while also picking up College Sports Madness Big Ten Player of the Week honors. Jackson was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
In Big Ten women's soccer this week, all 12 teams will take on conference opponents. On Thursday, Illinois and Northwestern will go head-to-head, while the Ohio State-Penn State match will air on BTN beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
On Friday, Purdue will travel to Michigan State, Michigan will entertain Indiana, Iowa will play at Minnesota and Wisconsin will host Nebraska. All 12 teams will compete on Sunday, including an Illinois-Penn State matchup that will air on BTN at 1 p.m. ET.
