Five Teams Earn Recognition in Latest Top 25 Polls

The NSCAA/NCAA Coaches, Soccer America and Top Drawer soccer top 25 women's soccer polls were released on Tuesday, with five Big Ten teams earning recognition.

In the coaches' poll, Penn State received a No. 11 ranking, followed by No. 19 Michigan, No. 20 Wisconsin and No. 24 Nebraska. Minnesota also received votes in the poll. In the Soccer America poll, Penn State led the way at No. 10, followed by Michigan and Nebraska at No. 21 and No. 23, respectively. The Top Drawer Soccer poll slotted the Nittany Lions at No. 8, while Michigan was ranked No. 17 and Wisconsin checked in at No. 24.

Penn State remained at No. 8 in Top Drawer Soccer's poll after defeating Wisconsin, 2-1, on Oct. 4 and dropping a 1-0 decision at Minnesota on Oct. 6. The Wolverines defeated Michigan State (Oct. 3) and Nebraska (Oct. 6) in a pair of 2-1 road victories. Wisconsin earned a No. 20 ranking in the coaches' poll after a weekend split with Penn State and Ohio State. Minnesota defeated the Nittany Lions, 1-0, while Nebraska split a pair of home conference matchups against Iowa and Michigan.

All 12 teams will compete in Big Ten play this week. Nebraska and Purdue will play in the lone match on Friday's slate. On Saturday, eight Big Ten teams will face conference opponents, while Michigan and Penn State will collide on Sunday.
