#8/8 WISCONSIN 2, MICHIGAN STATE 0
A to-do list for the Wisconsin men's hockey team coming into its final home series of the year would likely have contained at least three items. First, send off the team's nine seniors on top. Second, improve a sputtering power play, and third, extend the team's hot streak on the penalty kill. Check, check and check. The No. 8 Badgers did all that and more, riding their special teams to a 2-0 win over the Spartans and cementing the sweep, all the while earning head coach Mike Eaves his 250th career win at Wisconsin in the process. #10/10 MICHIGAN 5, PENN STATE 2
The 10th-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team defeated Penn State by a score of 5-2 to split the weekend series on Saturday night (Feb. 22) in front of a sold-out crowd inside Yost Ice Arena. Freshman forward Alex Kile and junior forward Phil Di Giuseppe supplied two goals apiece, and sophomore goaltender Steve Racine stopped 18 of 20 shots in his 10th appearance between the pipes this season and first at home since Oct. 10 vs. Boston College.
