offensively Purdue baseball took advantage of a number of Penn State
miscues on a rainy day at the ballpark, finishing off a three-game
series sweep with a 7-5 victory Sunday afternoon. RECAP NEBRASKA 8, NORTHWESTERN 6 The Nebraska baseball team (11-15) improved to 5-1 in Big Ten play with
an 8-6 win on Sunday afternoon at Hawks Field, completing a three-game
sweep of the Northwestern Wildcats (10-9, 2-4 Big Ten). RECAPMICHIGAN STATE 7, OHIO STATE 2 Michigan State opened the Big Ten season with a series win over Ohio
State after a 7-2 victory in the rubber-game on Sunday afternoon at Bill
Davis Stadium. The Spartans (15-8, 2-1) got a complete game out of
sophomore Mick VanVossen, the first of his career. He allowed seven hits and just two runs against the Buckeyes. RECAP INDIANA 9, IOWA 6 (Game 1); INDIANA 6, IOWA 4 (Game 2) Multiple schedule changes forced by inclement weather haven't interfered
with Indiana's rhythm one iota, winners of a school-record
15 straight games after completing a doubleheader, series sweep at Iowa
(9-13, 1-5 Big Ten). IU has not played a game on the originally set
time and date since March 16th vs. UAB, a string of nine consecutive
games on an altered schedule. The Hoosiers (22-3, 6-0) sit atop the Big
Ten standings after two weeks of conference play and have won 20 of the
last 21 games overall.
RECAPOakland 6, ILLINOIS 3 Illinois came up short in its attempt at a four-game sweep of Oakland
on Sunday, falling 6-3 to the Grizzlies in the series finale at Illinois
Field. The Illini fell behind 5-0 early and were unable to complete the
comeback, but still won the series 3-1 and have an overall record of

PURDUE 5, PENN STATE 4 Sean McHugh
delivered a two-out RBI single to knock in the go-ahead run in the 10th
inning, lifting Purdue baseball to a 5-4 victory at Penn State Saturday
afternoon that clinched a weekend series win for the Boilermakers. RECAP NEBRASKA 8, NORTHWESTERN 5 Trailing 4-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Nebraska took advantage of three Northwestern errors to score five runs on four hits. victory over Michigan State Saturday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at
Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 16-7, 4-1 in

very different games at Illinois Field. The Illini scored their most

in a 21-8 victory in game one and followed it up with solid pitching in
a 3-2 win over the Grizzlies in game two. After winning the first three
games of the series, Illinois boasts an overall record of 17-6.

MICHIGAN STATE 8, OHIO STATE 7 Michigan State used a four-run eighth inning to come from
behind and top Ohio State, 8-7 on Friday night at Bill Davis Stadium.
The Spartans (14-7, 1-0) extended their win streak to eight while
earning their first win of the Big Ten season over Ohio State (15-7,
3-1). RECAPMINNESOTA 3, MICHIGAN 1 Tom Windle
threw 103 pitches for his fourth-straight complete game to lead the
University of Minnesota baseball team to a 3-1 win over the University
of Michigan, today, at Wilpon Complex in Ann Arbor, Mich. With the win,
the Golden Gophers improve to 16-11 as they won their Big Ten Conference
opener. RECAP NEBRASKA 10, NORTHWESTERN 9 (16) RECAP COMING SOON... PURDUE 6, PENN STATE 1 Jordan Minch worked eight innings of one-run ball and Purdue baseball provided him
some run support by scoring in five different innings, winning its
season opener at Penn State, 6-1, Friday afternoon. RECAPILLINOIS 4, Oakland 0 Senior Kevin Johnson
needed just 79 pitches to earn his third career complete-game shutout
in Illinois' 4-0 victory over Oakland on Friday night. The Midlothian,
Ill., native only allowed three hits and worked quickly in the series
opener, dispatching the Golden Grizzlies in one hour and 43 minutes, the
Illini's shortest game this season. The Orange and Blue scored three
runs in the first inning, including senior Justin Parr's first home run of the year, and improved to 15-6 overall.
