FH: In the Polls

In the newest edition of the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll released Tuesday, six Big Ten teams received votes with four conference squads earning spots in the top 20.

Checking in at No. 6 was Ohio State, the second time the Buckeyes have maintained that ranking, while Michigan State heads to No. 7.  Moving up four spots from last week was Michigan, which was voted in at No. 15 this week. Rounding out the top 20 was Penn State at No. 16. Also receiving votes this week was Northwestern and Indiana.

FH: Ohio State Sweeps Weekly Field Hockey Awards

Ohio State's Aisling Coyle, Jenn Sciulli and Paula Pastor-Pitarque have been awarded the Big Ten field hockey weekly honors, the conference office announced on Monday.  Coyle earns the nod for Offensive Player of the Week, while Sciulli receives Defensive Player of the Week honors and Pastor-Pitarque earns Freshman of the Week recognition.

FH: Ohio State Sweeps Weekly Field Hockey Awards

FH: Weekend in Review

Week two of Big Ten field hockey play concluded on Sunday, with a total of six wins over the course of the weekend. No. 19 Michigan defeated No. 6 Michigan State to remain undefeated in the conference standings while No. 14 Penn State continued their conference success by defeating Iowa. No. 7 Ohio State ended the weekend going 2-0 after being victorious over Indiana.

WSCR: Weekend Recap

Week two of women's soccer Big Ten play concluded on Sunday, with three teams reeling off back-to-back wins over the course of the week. Wisconsin defeated No. 15 Minnesota and Iowa to jump to the top of the conference standings while No. 21 Illinois continued its winning ways with victories over Purdue and Indiana. Michigan State also finished the week at 2-0-0.

FH: Weekend Schedule

Another weekend of Big Ten field hockey action begins today when No. 6 Michigan State looks to continue its successful season when the Spartans travel to in-state rival No. 19 Michigan, which has won six straight matches, in a 4 p.m. ET contest.

On Saturday's slate, Iowa travels to No. 15 Penn State at Noon ET and Indiana gets their Big Ten Network debut when the Hoosiers host No. 7 Ohio State at 1 p.m. ET. The contest will be shown on the Big Ten Network Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. ET.

Five non-conference matches round out the weekend action on Sunday, starting when Iowa faces Lock Haven at 11 a.m. ET. Northwestern hosts Kent State while Monmouth N.J. travels to Penn State both with a Noon ET start. Michigan State welcomes Ohio University for a 1 p.m. ET contest, while Michigan welcomes 2009 NCAA Field Hockey Tournament runner-up and newly No. 1 Maryland with a 1 p.m. start.

Four Big Ten field hockey squads were ranked among the nation's top 20, according to Tuesday's release of the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. Michigan State once again led the conference charge as the Spartans earned a No. 6 ranking behind their 9-1 start to the 2010 season. Ohio State (6-3) moved to No. 7 in this week's rankings while Penn State (7-3) checked in at No. 15. Northwestern and Indiana also received votes in this week's rankings.

New to the rankings this week is Michigan, who check in at No. 19. The Wolverines are off to a 6-4 start to the season, expanding their winning streak to six games. Michigan won a pair of matches last weekend to move into the top 20 this week.

Northwestern's Chelsea Armstrong and Catherine Franklin and Michigan's Haley Jones have been awarded the Big Ten field hockey weekly honors, the conference office announced on Monday.  Armstrong earns the nod for Offensive Player of the Week, while Jones receives Defensive Player of the Week honors and Franklin earns Freshman of the Week recognition.
