WSCR: Ohio State Downs Dayton in Penalty Kicks

No. 3 Ohio State and Dayton played to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon, with the Buckeyes advancing to the round of 16 after winning a penalty kick shootout, 4-2. Lauren Beachy, Danica Wu, Colleen Brady and Courtney Jenkins all capitalized on their PK opportunities to send Ohio State to the third round. The Buckeyes out-shot the Flyers, 24-7, through 110 minutes of play. Ohio State will take on the winner of No. 2 Virginia versus South Carolina next weekend.

WSCR: Penn State Falls to West Virginia

Penn State fell to third-seeded West Virginia, 2-1, in the second round of the NCAA Championship on Sunday afternoon in Morgantown, W. Va. The Mountaineers opened the scoring in the 14th minute, adding another goal in the 16th minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Nittany Lions' only marker of the contest came on a Danielle Toney strike in the 34th minute. Penn State closes out its season at 11-9-1 overall.

WSCR: NCAA Second Round Underway

The second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship kicks off today at 1 p.m. ET with four Big Ten teams looking to advance to the round of 16. Penn State takes on No. 3 West Virginia and No. 3 Ohio State hosts Dayton at 1 p.m. ET, while Wisconsin squares off with No. 3 Marquette and Minnesota hosts No. 4 Texas A&M at 2 p.m. ET.

WSCR: Michigan Falls to No. 3 Oklahoma State, 2-1

No. 3 Oklahoma State defeated Michigan, 2-1, in the first round of the NCAA Championship. The Wolverines struck first on a Tori McCombs goal in the 22nd minute, but the Cowboys notched goals in the 53rd and 55th minutes to take the lead for good. The loss eliminates Michigan from postseason competition.

WSCR: Bethke, Minnesota Defeat Creighton, 4-2

Katie Bethke scored two goals to propel Minnesota to a 4-2 first-round victory over Creighton on Friday night in Minneapolis, Minn. Minnesota's Molly Rouse got the scoring started in the eighth minute, but goals in the 24th and 40th minutes put the Blue Jays on top heading into the half. Bethke tallied the game-tying goal in the 54th minute and notched the game-winner in the 70th minute. Steph Brandt added an insurance goal to secure the Golden Gopher win. Minnesota will take on No. 4 Texas A&M on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

WSCR: Wisconsin Moves Past Milwaukee, 2-1

Wisconsin earned a 2-1 win over intrastate foe Milwaukee on Friday night to advance to the second round of the NCAA Championship. Laurie Nosbusch opened the scoring in the 27th minute to give the Badgers the 1-0 lead before Milwaukee tied the match in the 68th minute. Wisconsin's Kodee Williams answered less than a minute later, giving the Badgers the lead for good. Wisconsin will play the winner of No. 3 Marquette versus Central Michigan on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

WSCR: Ohio State Earns Overtime Win Over Saint Francis, 1-0

Third-seeded Ohio State took a 1-0 overtime decision over Saint Francis (Pa.) in Friday's opening round of the NCAA Championship. Ohio State's Danielle Scoliere scored her first goal of the season in the 106th minute to send the Buckeyes past the Red Flash. Ohio State out-shot Saint Francis, 38-2, in the match. With the win, the Buckeyes advance to take on the winner of tonight's Dayton-Virginia Tech matchup on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in Columbus.

WSCR: Illinois Falls to Southern California, 3-1

Southern California defeated Illinois in the first round of the NCAA Championship, 3-1, on Friday night in South Bend, Ind. The Fighting Illini entered the half trailing 1-0 after a USC goal in the 30th minute, but the Trojans tacked two more on before Illinois could answer. The Illini's lone goal came from Shayla Mutz in the 79th minute. With the loss, Illinois is eliminated from postseason competition.

WSCR: Costa Propels Penn State Past Pennsylvania

Penn State defeated Pennsylvania, 1-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Championship on Friday afternoon in Morgantown, W. Va. Freshman Tani Costa tallied the lone marker of the match in the 70th minute, helping the Nittany Lions advance to the second round. Penn State will take on the winner of No. 3 West Virginia versus Morehead State on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
