Congratulations to head coach Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans -- the 2012 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament Champions! The Spartans defeated Ohio State 68-64 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., on Sunday, earning their third Big Ten Tournament title. MSU has now won the tournament crown in each of the three years it has advanced to the finals, including 1999 and 2000. Some of the key stats that stand out...
As part of the Youth Initiative of the Big Ten Hoops Day 5K, nearly 150 youth participants ran an abbreviated 1.2-mile course (as part of 5K course) Sunday to complete their Marathon in 51 Days. More than 2,500 youth have participated in the program, which calls for running a half mile daily either at school or on their own over the course of 50 days. Both the Michigan State and Ohio State pep bands were in attendance prior to the race, going through several songs to energize a pack of 1,500 runners and walkers. The race began around 11 a.m. local time and covered a 3.2-mile circuit in downtown Indianapolis, passing several restaurants that participated in the Big Ten Restaurant Pairings. The finish line was moved this year to Georgia Street, located just outside Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Here a pack of runners cross the finish line sporting many of their favorite Big Ten school colors. We are set for the championship final of the 2012 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament.

Game 11: No. 1 Michigan State vs. No. 3 Ohio State: 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS Who wants it more? No. 1 seed Michigan State (26-7) and No. 3 seed Ohio State (27-6) will battle Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS for the 2012 Big Ten Tournament Championship. This will be the Spartans' third trip to the tournament final, having won the previous two trips in 1999 (as the No. 1 seed) and 2000 (No. 2). Ohio State makes its sixth appearance overall, as the Buckeyes reached the finals in 2003 (No. 8), 2006 (No. 1), 2007 (No. 1), 2009 (No. 5), 2010 (No. 1) and 2012 (No. 3). The Buckeyes won two of those championship games (2010, 2011) and finished runners-up in the other three. In Big Ten Tournament play, the Spartans and Buckeyes have played three times. In 2003, No. 8 Ohio State topped No. 5 Michigan State 55-54, in the semifinals, while fourth-seeded Michigan State ousted fifth-seeded OSU in the 2008 quarterfinals. The following year, No. 5 Ohio State defeated top-seeded Michigan State 82-70 in semifinal action. This season, the two teams split on the road. Michigan State captured a 58-48 result in Columbus on Feb. 11, but dropped a 72-70 home contest to the Buckeyes on March 4, the last day of the regular season. MOST RECENT POSTSCATEGORIES
