Four Big Ten Teams Open 2012 Season Ranked Nationally

Four Big Ten men's cross country teams have earned spots in the preseason USTFCCCA national coaches' top 30 poll, announced on Tuesday. Defending national and Big Ten Champion Wisconsin tops the poll at No 1. Indiana checks in as the next conference team ranked, coming in at No. 13. Minnesota and Michigan also appear in the top 20, as the Golden Gophers stand at No. 18 and the Wolverines open the season at No. 19. Other conference squads receiving votes were Ohio State and Michigan State.

Ten Big Ten Student-Athletes Tabbed Academic All-America

Ten Big Ten student-athletes have been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as announced on Thursday. To be eligible for All-America recognition, student-athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a 3.30 GPA, and have reached sophomore academic and athletic standings at his or her institution.
