Illinois' Luke Guthrie has been named Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Guthrie won his fourball and singles matches to help the sixth-ranked Illini take down Illinois State, 8.5-0.5, in the Tinervin Cup on Saturday.

Seven Big Ten men's golf teams remain ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50, released on Sunday evening. Illinois moves up one spot to No. 6 this week, followed by No. 12 Iowa. Ohio State checks in at No. 24, while No. 29 Indiana, No. 33 Purdue, No. 35 Michigan and No. 36 Northwestern have each earned rankings in the top 40. Six individual Big Ten golfers also appear in the publication's top 50, led by Iowa's Vince India at No. 8.

Indiana's Brant Peaper reels in Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week laurels for the first time in his career after earning medalist honors to lead the No. 27 Hoosiers to first place at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate. Peaper recorded a 3-under 213, posting a tournament-high 13 birdies to finish in first by seven strokes.

Four Big Ten men's golfers have been named to the 2011 Ben Hogan Award watch list, announced over the weekend. Illinois' Luke Guthrie and Scott Langley, Iowa's Vince India and Michigan's Lion Kim have all been tabbed as members of the watch list for the Hogan Award, which is given annually to the nation's top golfer. The award semifinalists will be announced on April 14 and three finalists will be invited to Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, for the award presentation on May 16.

Big Ten men's golf is again well-represented in the Golfweek/Sagarin national team rankings, with seven conference teams earning top-50 status in this week's edition. Illinois stays put at No. 7 this week, while Iowa climbs one spot to No. 11. Ohio State and Indiana each drop one spot, as the Buckeyes hold No. 23 and the Hoosiers check in at No. 28. Purdue remains at No. 30 and Northwestern stands pat at No. 32, while Michigan falls two spots to No. 33.

Northwestern junior Eric Chun has been named the Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Chun went 3-0 over the weekend to lead the fourth-seeded Wildcats to the 2011 Big Ten Match Play Championship title, marking the team's second-straight crown.

Northwestern defeated Indiana, 4-2, to earn its second-straight Big Ten Match Play Championship title on Saturday at PGA National Resort. The fourth-seeded Wildcats used wins from David Lipsky, Eric Chun, Nick Losole and Jack Perry to take down the seventh-seeded Hoosiers.
