Illinois' Riley Named to The Bowerman Preseason Watch List

Illinois' Andrew Riley has received preseason recognition for The Bowerman, an award given to collegiate track & field's top athlete of the year, as announced on Wednesday.

The Fighting Illini senior is a two-time NCAA Champion, with victories coming in the 60- and 110-meter hurdles in 2011 and 2010, respectively. Riley is a seven-time All-American, six-time Big Ten Champion and holds four school records at Illinois.

Indiana checks in at No. 8 in the polls, with Wisconsin coming in at No. 13. Minnesota and Iowa begin their campaigns ranked 15th and 16th, respectively.

Three Big Ten men's cross country and track and field student-athletes have been named Capital One Academic All-Americans, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Tuesday. Penn State's Ryan Foster earned first-team status, while Indiana's Andy Bayer and Wisconsin's Elliot Krause picked up third-team laurels.

MTRK: Illinois Names Turk Head Coach

Mike Turk has been named the head coach of men's track and field at Illinois, the university announced on Wednesday. Turk has spent six seasons with the Fighting Illini after joining the coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2006 and being named interim head coach for the 2010-11 season.
