Recently in Men's Soccer Category

Four Big Ten student-athletes were named to the 2013-2014 Capital One Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced. Earning recognition from the Big Ten included Indiana's A.J. Corrado, Ohio State's Alex Ivanov and Wisconsin's Jacob Brindle and Tomislav Zadro.

Corrado was named to the 2012 All-Big Ten team and was an Academic All-Big Ten in 2013, while Ivanov was an Academic All-Big Ten in 2012 and 2013. Brindle was a 2013 Academic All-Big Ten, and Zadro was a 2011 All-Big Ten honoree.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their athletic performance and academic success. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, which will be selected later this month.

Four Teams Ranked in Latest Top 25 Polls

Four Big Ten teams were recognized in the latest NSCAA/NCAA Coaches, Soccer America and Top Drawer Soccer top 25 men's soccer polls, updated Tuesday.

Landing within the top 10 in all three polls, Penn State checked in at No. 9 in the coaches' poll, followed by No. 22 Michigan State, No. 23 Wisconsin and No. 25 Northwestern. Penn State improved eight spots to No. 10 in the Soccer America poll, followed by No. 21 Northwestern and No. 24 Wisconsin. In the Top Drawer Soccer weekly poll, Penn State led the way at No. 9, followed by No. 19 Wisconsin. Michigan State and Northwestern checked in at No. 20 and No. 22, respectively.

Penn State posted a 2-1 double-overtime win over Northwestern en route to the Nittany Lions clinching the Big Ten Championship in University Park, Pa., on Oct. 27. Wisconsin earned recognition in the polls for its 1-1 double-overtime draw against Milwaukee (Oct. 23) and 1-0 defeat of Michigan State (Oct. 27).  The Spartans posted a scoreless double-overtime draw on the road at Akron (Oct. 23) before falling to Wisconsin.

In Big Ten men's soccer action this week, Michigan will entertain Akron, Northwestern will face Loyola Chicago and Wisconsin will collide with Eastern Illinois on Wednesday.
