Eight Big Ten student-athletes have been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Team, as announced on Thursday. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30, have sophomore eligibility and be nominated by his or her sports information director. The Big Ten men's swimming & diving season concluded with 10 top-10 finishes on the final day of the NCAA Championships in
Federal Way, Wash. Michigan placed fifth at the championships with 271
points, while Indiana recorded 140 points en route to a 10th place
finish. The Hoosiers were followed by No. 12 Ohio State (106), No. 17
Purdue (56) and No. 24 Minnesota (37). Iowa, Michigan State, Purdue and

NCAA Championships Qualifiers: Sixty-two Big Ten student-athletes from nine men's swimming & diving teams represented the conference at the 2012 NCAA Championships in Seattle, Wash., from March 22-24. The list of Big Ten qualifiers, complete with qualifying time, can be found here. Indiana and Michigan Claim Big Ten Honors: The conference office announced on Wednesday, March 28, the 2012 Big Ten Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Year award winners, as voted by the conference coaches. Michigan's Dan Madwed captured Swimmer of the Year honors, while Indiana's Zac Nees took home Diver of the Year accolades. For the complete release, click here. Big Ten Championships Award Winners: The Big Ten Conference office announced on Friday, March 2, its 2012 men's swimming & diving individual award winners. Michigan's Dan Madwed was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Championships, while Indiana's Darian Schmidt, Minnesota's Kristoffer Jorgensen and Ohio State's Shane Miszkiel were tabbed Co-Divers of the Championships. Penn State's Nate Savoy took home Freshman of the Year honors, Michigan head coach Mike Bottom was named Swimming Coach of the Year, and Indiana diving coach Jeff Huber earned Diving Coach of the Year accolades.
