Van Swol Named National Swimmer of the Week

Minnesota's Kyler Van Swol was named Counsilman Hunsaker Division I Swimmer of the Week by Collegeswimming.com, it was announced on Tuesday. The junior won three of the four events he competed in in the Golden Gophers' defeat of Big Ten rival Iowa last weekend.

Van Swol took first place in the 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter butterfly and 200-meter medly relay against the Hawkeyes. His 100-meter butterfuly time of 47.82 was the fastest time nationally this season.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30, have sophomore eligibility and be nominated by his or her sports information director.
