At least 579 Big Ten Medal of Honor recipients have been a part of teams that have won Big Ten Championships, including at least 44 who won conference titles all four years they competed. Big Ten Medal of Honor winners have won four straight crowns in the sports of men's basketball, men's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis, men's track & field and wrestling.

Ohio State breaks NCAA home win streak record

Led by senior Peter Kobelt, a native of New Albany, Ohio, the No. 2 Ohio State men's tennis team rewrote history Friday night with a 4-3 victory over No. 28 Northwestern at the Varsity Tennis Center. The Buckeyes (20-2, 6-0 Big Ten) won their 185th-consecutive home match, breaking the intercollegiate NCAA record set by Stanford women's tennis team from 1999-2011. Guided by director of tennis and head coach Ty Tucker, who claimed his 415th career win, Ohio State won the doubles point and three singles matches to secure the win against the Wildcats (12-9, 1-4 Big Ten).

At least 632 Big Ten Medal of Honor recipients have also earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition, including 308 three-time and 80 four-time honorees. Football has the most Academic All-Big Ten selections (132), followed by track & field (84), swimming & diving (69), basketball (61), tennis (37), gymnastics (35), cross country (34), soccer (32) and volleyball (30).

100 Days of the Big Ten Medal of Honor: Day 8

Two Big Ten Medal of Honor winners now work in Indianapolis media: Joe Staysniak (Ohio State, 1990, football) is a radio talk show host and Kevin Gregory (Purdue, 1987, tennis) has been a meteorologist for WRTV-TV since 1989. In his senior season with the Buckeyes, Staysniak was a first-team All-Big Ten offensive tackle and first-team Academic All-American. He was taken by the San Diego Chargers in the 1990 NFL Draft. Gregory was an All-Big Ten honoree and Boilermaker MVP in 1985 and 1986 and earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition.

Eleven Big Ten men's tennis teams appear in the latest ITA College Tennis Rankings, released on Tuesday. Ohio State claimed the No. 1 spot for the fourth consecutive week. Illinois (No. 6), Northwestern (No. 26) and Penn State (No. 27) joined Ohio State in the top 30, followed by Purdue (No. 40) and Michigan (No. 41) in the top 50. Minnesota checks in at No. 51, with Nebraska (No. 56), Iowa (No. 57), Wisconsin (No. 58) and Indiana (No. 59) also within the top 60.

Individually, 12 Big Ten men's tennis players and nine doubles pairs have been ranked nationally in the ITA poll. The complete list of Big Ten singles and doubles players can be found below.
