#VoteDrouin: Online Bowerman Fan Voting Begins Today

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Fans of collegiate track & field will have their voices heard in the next two weeks as online voting for The Bowerman - the nation's top award for collegiate track & field student-athletes - got underway as of noon ET on Monday, July 29. Be sure to vote for Indiana's Derek Drouin and help him become the Big Ten's first Bowerman winner.

Voting will take place at TheBowerman.org through Tuesday, August 13, to help narrow the three male and three female finalists down to a men's and women's winner who will take home the iconic Bowerman trophy. The results of the online fan vote will account for one full vote in the overall balloting process.

It was a banner year for Drouin - the indoor and outdoor USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor National Field Athlete of the Year - as he became the first to sweep both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Division I high jump titles in one academic year since he last did so in 2010.

Drouin was named the National Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year after winning both NCAA high jump titles, becoming only the second student-athlete to win both honors in the same season. Drouin has won five NCAA high jump titles, the only five-time champion in the event's history, and seven Big Ten Championships crowns. An Olympic bronze Medalist, the Corunna, Ontario, native becomes the second Big Ten student-athlete in consecutive seasons to be named a finalist for the Bowerman, following Illinois' Andrew Riley in 2012.
