MTEN: Big Ten Takes Home Eight Regional Awards

Eight Big Ten men's tennis student-athletes or coaches earned ITA regional awards as announced on Wednesday. Two head coaches were tabbed Regional Coach of the Year, while six student-athletes also received individual awards. The complete list of Big Ten regional award winners can be found below.

Seven Big Ten singles players and three conference doubles pairs have been selected to the NCAA Championships, the selection committee announced on Wednesday. Sixteen automatic qualifiers and 48 at-large selections make up the singles field, while 13 automatic berths and 19 at-large selections comprise the doubles field.

MTEN: Five Teams Selected to NCAA Championships

Five Big Ten men's tennis teams have been selected to the NCAA Championships, the selection committee announced today. Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State have each earned berths to the national tournament, which gets underway on May 13 at campus sites. The Buckeyes received an automatic bid to the championships after winning their sixth consecutive Big Ten Tournament while the other four teams earned at-large bids.

MTEN: All-Big Ten Teams, Individual Awards Announced

The Big Ten men's tennis All-Conference teams and individual awards were announced on Thursday night at the Big Ten Tournament banquet, with conference champion Ohio State sweeping the individual awards. Buckeye junior Chase Buchanan was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Year, while Blaz Rola earned Freshman of the Year honors and Ty Tucker picked up Coach of the Year laurels.

MTEN: Big Ten Tournament Preview

The 2011 Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament is set for this weekend at the University of Wisconsin's Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The 11 conference teams head to Madison, Wis., in search of the tournament title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.

Minnesota's Tobias Wernet and Ohio State's Chase Buchanan have been named the Big Ten Men's Tennis Co-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Wernet took down the 10th-ranked singles player in the country, while Buchanan led the Buckeyes to their sixth-straight Big Ten title.

MTEN: Ohio State Clinches Big Ten Championship Outright

With a 7-0 sweep of No. 63 Purdue on Sunday, Ohio State clinched the outright Big Ten Men's Tennis Championship. The title is the fourth-ranked Buckeyes' sixth straight and 10th overall. Ohio State also receives the No. 1 seed in next week's Big Ten Tournament after closing the regular season at 10-0 in conference play and 27-2 overall.

MTEN: Ohio State Clinches Share of Big Ten Championship

With a 5-2 win over No. 24 Indiana on Friday, Ohio State clinched at least a share of the Big Ten Men's Tennis Championship. The conference title marks the 10th overall and sixth straight for the fourth-ranked Buckeyes, who moved to 9-0 in Big Ten play and 26-2 overall this season with the win.
