Three Big Ten men's cross country and track and field student-athletes have been named Capital One Academic All-Americans, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Tuesday. Penn State's Ryan Foster earned first-team status, while Indiana's Andy Bayer and Wisconsin's Elliot Krause picked up third-team laurels.

MTRK: Illinois Names Turk Head Coach

Mike Turk has been named the head coach of men's track and field at Illinois, the university announced on Wednesday. Turk has spent six seasons with the Fighting Illini after joining the coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2006 and being named interim head coach for the 2010-11 season.

Forty-three Big Ten men's outdoor track and field athletes have been named All-Americans by the USTFCCCA based on their finish at the 2011 NCAA Championships. The conference boasts 16 first-team honorees and 27 second-team athletes. The entire list of Big Ten All-Americans can be found below.

Three student-athletes and three coaches represent the Big Ten among the USTFCCCA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Regional Award winners, as announced on Monday. The complete list of award winners from the Big Ten can be found below.

Four Big Ten student-athletes have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country teams, announced on Thursday. Indiana's Andy Bayer (District 5), Michigan State's Anthony Agrusa (District 4), Penn State's Ryan Foster (District 2) and Wisconsin's Elliot Krause (District 5) have each earned first-team Academic All-District honors. After receiving first-team recognition, all four Big Ten honorees are eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

The Big Ten will send 181 student-athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Round, set for May 26-28. Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue will each send competitors to the East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind., while Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin will represent the Big Ten at the West Preliminary in Eugene, Ore.

In order to qualify for the NCAA Championships, two preliminary rounds will narrow the field to the 24 that will advance to the NCAA Championships. At each preliminary site, 48 individuals and 24 relays will compete in each event. The top 12 individuals and relay teams from each preliminary will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be held June 8-11, in Des Moines, Iowa.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released week seven national computer rankings for NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field on Tuesday. After winning the 2011 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Iowa Hawkeyes appeared at No. 21 in this week's rankings.  Iowa jumped 15 spots to make its first appearance in the poll this season. With a few weeks remaining before the NCAA Championships, Penn State takes the No. 24 spot.

The conference office announced on Wednesday the weekly men's outdoor track and field awards. Indiana's Kind Butler was recognized as Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week, while Penn State's Sean Reilly and Wisconsin's Dan Block received Co-Field Athlete of the Week accolades.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released week six national computer rankings for NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field on Tuesday. With a few days remaining before the Big Ten Championships, Penn State remained at No. 19 in this week's national poll.

Texas A&M remains the top school in the nation, followed by Florida and LSU.
