Twitter - @BigTenChamps Northwestern University and Lake Shore Country Club will play host to the 2011 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships this weekend as all 11 conference teams will head to Glencoe, Ill., to compete for a conference title. The course will feature a par-72, 6,303-yard format for the tournament. The championships begin on Friday, with the squads taking to the course for first-round action at 8 a.m. CT. Friday will also feature round two beginning at 12:30 p.m. CT. Saturday's third round will begin at 9 a.m. CT, while Sunday's final round will take place at 8 a.m. CT. Michigan State's Caroline Powers picks up the final Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week award of the season after taking medalist honors at the Lady Buckeye Invitational over the weekend. Powers' first-place finish, the first of her career, led the 22nd-ranked Spartans to the team title in a field which featured eight other Big Ten teams.

Five Big Ten women's golf teams remain ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50 through the final weekend of regular season competition, with No. 4 Purdue maintaining its top-five position. Michigan State cracks the top 20 this week, checking in at No. 19. Ohio State also moves up in the rankings, holding No. 31. Northwestern and Minnesota each remain in the top 40, with the Wildcats sitting at No. 38 and the Gophers holding No. 40. Four Big Ten golfers also rank in the individual top 50, as Purdue's Numa Gulyanamitta ranks 17th in the nation, teammate Laura Gonzalez-Escallon follows at No. 19, Michigan State's Caroline Powers checks in at No. 38 and Purdue's Maude-Aimee LeBlanc ranks 38th.

Five Big Ten women's golf teams again appear in the top 50 of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Fourth-ranked Purdue, No. 22 Michigan State and No. 31 Ohio State each remain in the same spots as last week, while Minnesota moves drops one place to No. 38 and Northwestern stands pat at No. 39. Three of the four individually-ranked conference golfers gained ground nationally, as the Boilermakers' Numa Gulyanamitta and Laura Gonzalez-Escallon moved up to No. 18 and No. 19, respectively. The Spartans' Caroline Powers moved up to No. 31 in the country, while Purdue's Maude-Aimee LeBlanc checked in at No. 45 this week.

Purdue's Numa Gulyanamitta has been named the Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Gulyanamitta reels in the third Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor of her career after leading the fourth-ranked Boilermakers to a tie for second place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.

Minnesota's Teresa Puga has been named the Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Puga tied for 12th at the Mountain View Collegiate, helping the Gophers to a fifth-place finish in the team standings.
