Ohio State's Susana Benavides and Purdue's Laura Gonzalez-Escallon are competing in the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The four-day, 72-hole tournament began yesterday and will conclude on Saturday, with the winning team receiving the Espirito Santo Trophy.
Benavides, a top-15 finisher at the 2010 Big Ten Championships, is representing her native Bolivia in the tournament. The Buckeye sophomore put together four top-20 finishes and three top-10 marks in her rookie season.
The reigning Big Ten Champion and Freshman of the Year, Gonzalez-Escallon is competing for Belgium in the tournament. She shot a tournament-record 280 at the Big Ten Championships to lead Purdue to its third-straight conference crown.

Purdue, Ohio State and Michigan State have been tabbed as top-30 teams in Golfweek's preseason women's golf rankings. The defending NCAA and Big Ten Champion Boilermakers enter the season as the No. 1 team in the country, while the Buckeyes hold No. 21 and the Spartans check in at No. 23.
Three Purdue golfers also earned preseason laurels as Maude-Aimee LeBlanc, Numa Gulyanamitta and Laura Gonzalez-Escallon enter the season ranked in the individual top 30.
