Michigan State's Christine Meier earns her first Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week award after putting together a top-10 performance at the Central District Invitational. Meier totaled a career-best 219 (+3) at the tournament, good for a tie for 10th place.

Six Big Ten women's golf teams have earned top-50 spots in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, released on Sunday. Purdue falls two spots from last week, checking in at No. 7. Michigan State climbs one ranking to No. 18, while Ohio State drops three spots to No. 28. Minnesota jumps seven spots to No. 35 this week, while Northwestern climbs to No. 41. Wisconsin re-joins the top 50 this week, taking No. 49.
Three conference golfers appear in the individual top 50, led by Purdue's Numa Gulyanamitta at No. 20.

Teresa Puga tied for first at the UCF Challenge over the weekend, leading No. 42 Minnesota to a third-place finish at the event en route to the third Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor of her career. Puga shot an eight-under-par 208 at the event, breaking a Minnesota 54-hole record.

Purdue leads the way for Big Ten women's golf in the latest GolfWeek/Sagarin Collegiate Team Rankings, checking in at No. 5. Michigan State holds No. 18 in the latest rankings, followed by No. 24 Ohio State. Minnesota, Northwestern and Wisconsin each appear in the top 50, as the Golden Gophers sit at No. 42, the Wildcats follow at No. 43 and the Badgers check in at No. 49. Four Big Ten golfers have also earned top-50 status in the latest individual rankings, led by Purdue's Numa Gulyanamitta at No. 24.
Illinois' Samantha Sloan takes home the first Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week accolade of the season and the second of her career after earning two victories in the Illini's win at the Illinois Challenge last weekend.

Ohio State's Susana Benavides and Purdue's Laura Gonzalez-Escallon are competing in the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The four-day, 72-hole tournament began yesterday and will conclude on Saturday, with the winning team receiving the Espirito Santo Trophy. Benavides, a top-15 finisher at the 2010 Big Ten Championships, is representing her native Bolivia in the tournament. The Buckeye sophomore put together four top-20 finishes and three top-10 marks in her rookie season. The reigning Big Ten Champion and Freshman of the Year, Gonzalez-Escallon is competing for Belgium in the tournament. Purdue, Ohio State and Michigan State have been tabbed as top-30 teams in Golfweek's preseason women's golf rankings. The defending NCAA and Big Ten Champion Boilermakers enter the season as the No. 1 team in the country, while the Buckeyes hold No. 21 and the Spartans check in at No. 23.
