Five Big Ten women's basketball standouts were named to the WBCA All-Region team, it was announced on Tuesday. The Region 6 team is comprised of five Big Ten student-athletes as Minnesota's Rachel Banham, Nebraska's Jordan Hooper, Ohio State's Tayler Hill and Penn State's Alex Bentley and Maggie Lucas were recognized. The WBCA selection committee will select the 10-member Division I Coaches All-America team from the 52 members of the various All-Region teams.

Four Big Ten women's basketball teams are receiving votes in the latest Associated Press (AP) and USA Today Coaches polls. In the AP vote, Penn State leads the way at No. 8, followed by Purdue at No. 21 and Nebraska at No. 24. The Lady Lions check in at No. 8 in the coaches poll, while the Boilermakers are ranked No. 21 and the Huskers round out the poll at No. 25. Michigan State is receiving votes in both polls.
Michigan sophomore guard Trey Burke has been named the Sports Illustrated National Player of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday. Burke becomes the Wolverines' second National Player of the Year selection, and first since Cazzie Russell in 1966. For the full release, click HERE.
Six Big Ten women's gymnastics squads are ranked in the top 20 of the latest GymInfo poll, released on Monday. Michigan leads the way for conference teams, coming in at No. 4. Nebraska joins the Wolverines in the top 10 at No. 9, while Minnesota and Penn State share the No. 14 spot. Illinois checks in at No. 18 and Ohio State sits at No. 20.
All seven Big Ten men's gymnastics teams represent the conference in the most recent GymInfo poll, released on Monday. Penn State holds the top spot for the ninth consecutive week, while Michigan checks in at No. 3. Ohio State sits at No. 5, followed by No. 6 Illinois and No. 7 Minnesota. Iowa claims the No. 9 spot and Nebraska is No. 11.

Two Big Ten women's basketball teams will continue postseason play in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Illinois and Minnesota will both host first-round matchups this week as the Fighting Illini take on Miami (Ohio) on Thursday and the Golden Gophers face Ball State on Friday.

Penn State junior guard Maggie Lucas was named a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award by the Los Angeles Athletic Club, it was announced on Wednesday. Selected by the Wooden Award National Advisory Board, the ballot is made up of 15 student-athletes who have proven to their universities that they are making progress towards graduation and maintaining at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA. The Wooden Award All-American Team, consisting of the nation's top five players, will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The John R. Wooden Award Player of the Year will be announced at the 2013 Wooden Award Gala presented by Wendy's on April 12, 2013, at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
