Learfield Sports Rolls Out 'Big Ten Connect' Mobile App

Big Ten college hoops fans nationwide get an ultimate boost on their mobile device from Learfield Sports with the introduction of "Big Ten Connect" - the first-of-its-kind mobile app for the Big Ten Conference and believed to be the first ever standalone conference tournament app.

Big Ten Connect - a Learfield Sports Digital product - designed to enhance the fan experience during the 2013 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament, March 14-17 - is now available for Android and iPhone smartphones.  The app features live radio broadcasts of every game during the Tournament; live game scores and stats; plus unique video including fan reactions, interviews and behind-the scenes footage.

Alex Bentley, a 5-foot-7 guard for Penn State, is the 2013 recipient of the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, which is presented annually by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to the nation's outstanding female collegian 5-feet-8-inches and under who has excelled both athletically and academically. Bentley is the fifth Big Ten student-athlete to win the award, and the first since Wisconsin's Jolene Anderson in 2008.

NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Qualifiers

Two Named Finalists for AAI Award

Two Big Ten women's gymnasts were named finalists for the American Athletic, Inc., award, which is given annually to the top senior student-athlete in NCAA Division I women's gymnastics. Michigan's Katie Zurales and Penn State's Sharaya Musser are two of six gymnasts named finalists for the award. The winner will be announced at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships awards banquet in Los Angeles next month.

Ohio State sits at No. 18 and Illinois comes in at No. 19.

Penn State holds the top spot for the seventh consecutive week, while Michigan follows at No. 2. Ohio State sits at No. 4, while Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa take the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 spots, respectively. Nebraska rounds out the top 10 at No. 10.

Illinois and Penn State earned USTFCCCA Regional recognition, as announced on Monday, March 4. Illinois head coach Tonja Buford-Bailey (Midwest) took home Coach of the Year honors and Michigan State assistant Randy Bungard (Mid-Atlantic) earned Assistant Coach of the Year laurels. USTFCCCA Announces Regional Award Winners

Illinois, Indiana, Penn State and Wisconsin earned USTFCCCA Regional awards, as announced on Monday, March 4. Penn State's Casimir Loxsom (Mid-Atlantic) and Wisconsin's Maverick Darling (Great Lakes) were tabbed Track Athlete of the Year for their respective regions. Indiana's Derek Drouin (Great Lakes) took home Field Athlete of the Year honors, while Penn State head coach Beth Alford-Sullivan and Wisconsin head coach Ed Nuttycombe were tabbed Coach of the Year. Additionally, two assistant coaches were honored as Illinois' Adrian Wheatley (Midwest) and the Nittany Lions' John Gondak took home Assistant Coach of the Year accolades.
