MSWM: Day Three Begins With Prelims

Day 3 of the 2011 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships have begun at the University Aquatic Center. The 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle relay, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and three-meter diving will take place today, with preliminary heats this morning and the finals starting at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Michigan continued its dominant efforts to place themselves into first place after three first-place finishes during the second day of competition at the Big Ten Championships inside the University Aquatic Center. Through seven completed events, the Wolverines have compiled 259.5 team points and sit just slightly ahead of Indiana (251) and Ohio State (183) in the team standings. With 159;5 points Minnesota occupies the fourth spot while Purdue rounds out the time five with 125.5 overall tallies.

MSWM: Big Ten Championships Release

The University Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota will play host to the 2011 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Competition begins Wednesday, Feb. 23, with the 200-yard medley relay and concludes with the 400 freestyle relay on Saturday, Feb. 26. The Big Ten Network will air the meet on tape delay on March 6 at 10 a.m. ET. Additionally, Minnesota will offer live results at gophersports.com.

MSWM: Purdue Takes Home Weekly Accolade

The conference office announced on Tuesday the weekly men's swimming honor with Purdue's Noah Pashley being tabbed Swimmer of the Week. Purdue's Noah Pashley had three top-six finishes last weekend at the Ohio State Winter Invite. This marks Pashley's first weekly award of his career.

All ten Big Ten teams earned recognition in the CollegeSwimming.com/CSCAA Division I Coaches Poll released Wednesday, Feb. 9. Michigan leads the way for all conference schools  after moving up four spots to No. 9. Ohio State holds steady at No. 11 while Indiana ranks at No. 14. Minnesota follows closely behind, earning the No. 15 spot while Purdue while Iowa rounds out the conference schools, at No. 20 and No. 25.

Four Big Ten teams are also receiving votes in Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State and Wisconsin.

Big Ten Network to Air Seven Winter Championships in HD

The Big Ten Network will televise seven winter Big Ten Championships, beginning Feb. 26 with the Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The schedule also features men's swimming and diving, wrestling, men's and women's indoor track and field and men's and women's gymnastics.

The Big Ten Men's and Women's Gymnastics Championships and the second day of the Big Ten Wrestling Championships will be carried live, and all seven championships will be produced in high definition.
