The Big Ten Conference office announced on Tuesday the 2011 All-Big Ten women's indoor track and field teams and individual award winners. Highlighting the list, Ohio State junior Christina Manning was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year and Indiana senior Faith Sherrill earned the nod as Field Athlete of the Year. Purdue's Dani Bunch was tabbed Freshman of the Year by the conference coaches while Buckeye head coach Karen Dennis was named Coach of the Year by her peers. In addition, Manning was tabbed Big Ten Track Athlete of the Championships, while Sherrill took home Field Athlete of the Championships laurels for their outstanding performances last weekend.

WINDR T/F: Ohio State Wins First-Ever Big Ten Championship

Ohio State captured its first-ever Big Ten Indoor Championship inside Lambert Fieldhouse on the campus of Purdue University. The Buckeyes posted two Big Ten titles, five silver medals and 16 top five finishes on the weekend to total 122.50 points.

Penn State placed second with 86 points, followed by Minnesota (73) and Michigan (68.50) in third and fourth place, respectively. Indiana rounds out the top-five spots with 67 team tallies.

The Big Ten Women's Indoor Championship can be seen on the Big Ten Network on March 12, at 4 p.m. ET.

A select group will head to last chance meets next weekend, looking to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, to be hosted by Texas A&M on March 11-12.

WINDR T/F: Indiana Takes Early Lead on Day One

With six events in the books, Indiana surged to an early lead after the first day of competition at the 2011 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships in West Lafayette, Ind. The Hoosiers began the competition with five top-four finishes, including one individual title to compile 46 team points. Minnesota collected 39 points on the strength of a individual top finish to edge Purdue (31) for the runner-up spot after Day One. Ohio State (25) and Michigan (17.50) currently occupy the remaining top-five positions.

WINDR T/F: 2011 Big Ten Championships Release

Purdue University will be the site of the 2011 Big Ten Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. This year's event has the opportunity to see many records fall as four Big Ten student-athletes rank among the top five nationally in their respective events. Defending indoor champion Penn State will look to claim its second consecutive and third overall conference crown.

Last season, the Nittany Lions recorded 111 points over the two-day contest. Ohio State finished second with 88 points and Indiana was third with 83. Minnesota followed closely behind with 82 points and Wisconsin rounded out the top five with 72.

WINDR T/F: National USTFCCCA Rankings

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Tuesday the fifth weekly update of the NCAA Division I National Team Rankings for indoor track & field. Michigan's position in the poll remained unchanged at No. 13 as all 10 conference teams will convene in West Lafayette, Ind. for the Big Ten Indoor Championships, slated for Feb. 26-27.

WINDR T/F: Purdue and Minnesota Earn Conference Recognition

The conference office announced on Monday the weekly women's indoor track and field awards with Purdue's Ebony Woodard earning Track Athlete of the Week honors and Minnesota's Samantha Sonnenberg winning Field Athlete of the Week accolades. 

Ebony Woodard earned a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash last weekend as Purdue hosted the Boilermaker Invitational. Minnesota's Samantha Sonnenberg earns her second consecutive weekly award after taking home first place in the pole vault last weekend at the Parents Day Open.

USA Track & Field announced today that the University of Illinois women's head track and field coach Tonja Buford-Bailey was nominated to serve as an assistant coach for Team USA's track and field squads for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.For the third time in her career, she will assist Team USA at an international competition with her focus being on the sprints/hurdles for the women's team.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday the fourth weekly update of the NCAA Division I National Team Rankings for indoor track & field. Michigan leads the conference, jumping 27 spots to land at No. 13 while Indiana fell one spot to earn a No. 25 national ranking.
