Purdue 77, Liberty 43
Courtney Moses scored 21 points, hitting 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and fourth-seeded Purdue routed Liberty 77-43 Sunday in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. The Boilermakers (25-8) improved to 19-1 in the first round with their 16th straight victory to open the tournament. They will play No. 5 seed Louisville or 12th-seeded Middle Tennessee in the second round Tuesday night of the Oklahoma City regional. RECAP

Penn State 85, Cal Poly 55
The third-seeded Penn State Lady Lions (26-5, 14-2 Big Ten) scored 47 points in the second half as they picked up an 85-55 victory over the No. 14 seed Cal Poly Mustangs (21-11, 13-5 Big West) on Sunday evening to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. With the victory, Penn State will play the winner of No. 11 Green Bay/No. 6 LSU on Tuesday night at 9:30 (ET) at the Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge. Maggie Lucas (Narberth, Pa.) leading the way on 19 points, four assists and four steals. Senior Mia Nickson (Ashburn, Va.) had a great all-around game, tallying her 15th career double-double of her career on 13 points and 13 rebounds. It was Nickson's third career double-double in six NCAA Tournament games. Senior Alex Bentley (Indianapolis, Ind.) chipped in 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting. RECAP

Michigan 60, Villanova 52
The University of Michigan women's basketball team advanced to the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament with a 60-52 victory over on Sunday at Maples Pavilion on the Stanford University campus. The Wolverines had four players score in double figures and advanced to take on top-seeded Stanford on Tuesday night. RECAP

Iowa 69, Miami (Fla.) 53
The ninth-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the eighth-seeded Miami Hurricanes, 69-53, Sunday evening in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa. The Hawkeyes were led by Samantha Logic, as she posted a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Melissa Dixon also reached double figures with 13 points and Morgan Johnson pulled down 11 boards as well. RECAP

Michigan State 55, Marist 47
Late in a sleepy and sloppy first half, Annalist Pickrel came off the bench and started hitting shots. Three three-pointers and a baseline drive for a layup. Eleven points in a 13-0 run for fifth-seeded Michigan State, providing a cushion the Spartans would need in the second half against a mid-major known for its first-round upsets. Pickrel finished with 14 points Saturday, making up for off-days from starters Becca Mills and Klarissa Bell, as the Spartans beat 12th-seeded Marist, 55-47. RECAP

Nebraska 73, Chattanooga 59
The sixth-seeded Nebraska women's basketball team defeated 11th-seeded Chattanooga in College Station, Texas on Saturday evening. The Huskers boasted four players in doubles figured as Jordan Hooper finished with a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds. Lindsey Moore tallied 13 points and seven assists, Rachel Theriot posted 12 points and Emily Cady chipped in 10 tallies. RECAP

The University of Minnesota (18-14) women's basketball team fell 54-51 to Ball State (16-14) Friday night in the opening round of the WNIT at Williams Arena. The loss ends Minnesota's season. Micaella Riche led the Golden Gophers with 18 points, while sophomore Rachel Banham added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. RECAP

Illinois 73, Miami (Ohio) 60
Junior Amber Moore tied her season high with 25 points and Illinois used a 14-4 second-half run to grab a 73-60 win over Miami (Ohio) in the first round of the Women's NIT at the Assembly Hall on Thursday. Along with Moore's big night, seniors Karisma Penn and Adrienne GodBold added 20 and 15 points, respectively, meaning the Illini's three upperclassmen combined for 60 of the team's 73 points (82.1 percent) on the night. With the victory, the Illini (17-13) advance to face Eastern Illinois (20-11) in a WNIT second-round game that will be played at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 25, at the Assembly Hall. RECAP

Five Named To WBCA All-Region Team

Five Big Ten women's basketball standouts were named to the WBCA All-Region team, it was announced on Tuesday. The Region 6 team is comprised of five Big Ten student-athletes as Minnesota's Rachel Banham, Nebraska's Jordan Hooper, Ohio State's Tayler Hill and Penn State's Alex Bentley and Maggie Lucas were recognized. The WBCA selection committee will select the 10-member Division I Coaches All-America team from the 52 members of the various All-Region teams.
