The Michigan State women's cross country team earned its third Big Ten Championships title and its first since 2001 on Sunday at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Verona, Wis. The Spartans, led by top individual finisher Emily MacLeod, placed two runners in the top 10 and four in the top 25 en route to a team score of 74. Michigan took second place with 88 points with Minnesota following with 90.

The 2010 Big Ten Women's Cross Country Championships are set for this Sunday, Oct. 31, at the Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. The 11 conference teams will begin the six-kilometer race at 10:45 a.m. CT.

Illinois' Chris DeSilva and Meghan Frigo have been named the Big Ten men's and women's cross country Runners of the Week as announced on Tuesday. DeSilva took first place at the Illini Open last weekend, while Frigo finished second.

Five Big Ten women's cross country teams appear in the latest USTFCCCA national coaches' poll with Michigan State leading the way at No. 16. Minnesota made the largest jump from their previous ranking of any Big Ten team, moving up seven spots to No. 19. Michigan is not far behind, checking in at No. 21. Indiana and Iowa round out the poll at Nos. 29 and 30, respectively. Penn State is also receiving votes.

Indiana senior Sarah Pease has been tabbed the Big Ten Conference women's cross country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Pease finished first at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival last weekend.
