Five Teams Earn Recognition in Latest Top 25 Polls

Five Big Ten teams garnered recognition in the latest NSCAA/NCAA Coaches, Soccer America and Top Drawer Soccer top 25 women's soccer polls released on Tuesday.

In the weekly coaches poll, Penn State improved to No. 7, followed by No. 18 Wisconsin. Michigan and Nebraska are ranked No. 21 and 23, respectively, while Ohio State earned votes in the poll. In the Soccer America poll, Penn State led the way at No. 8, and Nebraska checked in at No. 23. Michigan and Wisconsin are tied at No. 25 in the poll. In Top Drawer Soccer's poll, the Nittany Lions are ranked No. 7, followed by No. 17 Michigan and No. 23 Wisconsin.

Penn State earned the accolades after defeating three Big Ten opponents, including Northwestern, Purdue and Indiana. Wisconsin defeated Michigan State, 2-0, on Sept. 29, while Michigan dropped a 1-0 decision against Minnesota. Nebraska earned its No. 23 ranking after defeating its first three conference opponents. Ohio State also received votes after splitting with Indiana and Purdue.

All 12 teams will compete in Ben Ten play this week. On Thursday, Iowa and Nebraska will go head-to-head. Michigan will also travel to Michigan State in a match that will air on BTN at 3 p.m. ET. On Friday, the eight remaining teams will face conference opponents.

Five Teams Ranked in Latest Top 25 Polls

The latest NSCAA/NCAA Coaches, Top Drawer Soccer and Soccer America top 25 women's soccer polls were released. Big Ten teams earning recognition in the polls included Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana and Ohio State.

In the coaches poll, Penn State was ranked No. 8, followed by No. 13 Michigan and No. 18 Wisconsin. Nebraska and Ohio State also received votes in the poll.

In Soccer America's poll, Penn State checked in at No. 9, followed by No. 17 Michigan. Indiana made its season debut in the poll, and is ranked No. 24.

In Top Drawer's weekly poll, Penn State, Wisconsin and Ohio State were ranked No. 7, No. 24 and No. 25, respectively. Michigan improved from No. 15 to No. 13, while Indiana received votes in the poll.

Penn State earned its No. 9 ranking after defeating Northwestern, 3-2, in double overtime on Sept. 20. On Sept. 22, Michigan defeated Iowa, 2-1, in its first conference match.

Indiana earned its appearance in the Soccer America top 25 poll after shutting out both Xavier (3-0) and Minnesota (1-0) last week. Wisconsin defeated Purdue in its conference opener, and Ohio State opened Big Ten play with a 1-1, double-overtime draw against Illinois on Sept. 20. Nebraska earned top 25 votes after its 1-0 win over Michigan State on Sept. 19.

Big Ten play will resume this week, with Indiana playing at Ohio State on Thursday. On Friday, 10 teams will face conference opponents.
