The conference office announced on Wednesday the weekly women's outdoor track and field awards. Ohio State's Kelsey McHugh earns the nod as Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week, while Indiana's Vera Neuenswander was tabbed Field Athlete of the Week.

TRK: National Polls

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released week two national computer rankings for NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field on Tuesday. After winning multiple events at the Sun Angel Classic and Falcon Invitational, the Minnesota men's track and field team lands at No. 13 in this week's poll. On the women's side, the Penn State Nittany Lions sit at No. 23 after taking several titles last weekend at the Patriot Open.

On Tuesday, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the first weekly outdoor track and field national rankings. On the men's side, defending Big Ten indoor champion Minnesota checks in the No. 11 spot. Florida, Texas A&M and Texas Tech round out the top three contingents.  In this week's poll, Penn State women check in at No. 22 with Texas A&M, LSU and Oregon earning the top three spots.

On Wednesday the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the 2011 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field preseason rankings. The Big Ten boasts three teams ranked in the polls, one men and two women.

On the men's side, Minnesota finds itself in the top-10, earning the No. 10 spot. This marks the second year in a row the Golden Gophers have earned preseason honors.

Penn State, the defending women's outdoor track and field champion enters the 2011 season at No. 19 while Indiana rounds out the conference contingents at No. 23.

XC and T&F: Big Ten Icon No. 19 Suzy Favor Hamilton

Big Ten Icons honors Suzy Favor Hamilton at No. 19 in their top 50 countdown. Favor Hamilton was a nine-time NCAA champion and 14-time All-American at Wisconsin in track and field and cross country. The native of Stevens Point, Wis., was named Big Ten Athlete of the Decade for the 1990s, NCAA Woman of the Year, and received the Honda-Broderick Cup as the nation's top female college athlete in 1990.

T/F: Three Qualify for World Junior Championships

At the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend, Michigan's Erin Pendleton and Penn State's Evonne Britton and Casimir Loxsom qualified for the 2010 World Junior Track and Field Championships, scheduled for July 19-25 in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Britton qualified for two events in the world championships after winning the 400-meter hurdles (57.99) and claiming runner-up honors in the 100-meter hurdles (13.37). Classmate Loxsom took first place in the 800-meter run (1:47.45), while Pendleton won the junior discus throw with a toss of 52.54 meters.

Meanwhile, former Purdue All-American Kara Patterson shattered the American record in the javelin. Her throw of 66.67 meters (218-08) is third in the world in 2010 and breaks the United States mark by more than two meters.
