Big Ten Announces Hiring of Diane Dietz

Park Ridge, Ill. - Big Ten Commissioner James E. Delany announced that Diane Dietz has been hired as Chief Communications Officer. Dietz will lead all conference communications efforts and work to integrate conference communications where appropriate with institutional and Big Ten Network endeavors. All releases, branding and promotional efforts as well as new and traditional media messaging will be overseen by Dietz. She will assume her new role at the conference office on May 3.
Prior to joining the conference office, Dietz served as the Chief Marketing and Community Relations Officer at Cranbrook Educational Community in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., from 2008-09. She worked for Comcast from 1996-2008, as a Vice President for Corporate Affairs for the Midwest Division Office before becoming the Senior Vice President of the Comcast Foundation and Senior Director of Public Affairs. Dietz graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in general studies in 1982 before earning her juris doctorate cum laude from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1985. She set the Wolverines' career scoring record in women's basketball during her time in Ann Arbor, and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 2009.
