Indiana alum David Neville ran the third leg of the 4x400-meter relay, helping the Americans set a new Olympic record en route to a gold medal finish. Neville joined gold and silver medalists in the 400-meters LaShawn Merritt and Jeremy Wariner and Angelo Taylor in the winning effort.

The USA women's basketball team won the gold medal over Australia, 92-65.  Former Ohio State player Katie Smith played over 16 minutes and had two assists and a rebound. 

Kate Hooven and Becky Kim, both formerly of Ohio State, helped the United States to a fifth place finish in the team event free routine of synchronized swimming.

Matt Tegenkamp, formerly of Wisconsin, placed 13th in the men's 5000-meter run representing the United States.
