Big Ten Commissioner James E. Delany today announced new hires for four conference office staff positions, as Kerry Kenny has been named Assistant Director of Compliance, Stephanie Kirby was hired as the Assistant Director of Championships, Julie Suderman was named Controller and Jay Reid was tabbed as Video Coordinator. These additions became effective earlier this month.
Kenny will assist in all Big Ten and NCAA compliance-related functions at the conference office where he previously served as the Governance Intern since August of 2008. Kenny graduated from Lafayette College in May of 2007 with a degree in economics and business and was a senior team captain on the school's men's basketball team. Kenny was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) on the campus, conference and national levels, closing his term as chair of the NCAA Division I SAAC in January of 2009. He has completed terms of service on several NCAA Committees, including the Division I Men's Basketball Issues Committee and the Division I Leadership Council.
Kirby will serve as the sport liaison for various conference teams and also assist with the management of the Big Ten Basketball Tournaments. Prior to joining the Big Ten, Kirby served as Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing at Michigan State. She also spent one year at the NCAA as the Division I Men's and Women's Basketball intern in 2005-06 where she assisted in championship administration. Kirby graduated from Nebraska-Omaha in December of 2004 with a degree in biology. A three-year captain on the women's soccer team, Kirby was named first team All-America and served as President of the SAAC.
Suderman will oversee the financial accounting and reporting of the Big Ten. Before joining the conference office, she spent five years as the Controller at the Willow Creek Association. Suderman completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois in 1995, where she majored in accounting. She later went on to pursue her MBA, graduating from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management in 2005.
Reid comes to the Big Ten from DVSport where he served as Regional Account Manager with oversight to many professional and collegiate athletic teams. In addition, he was responsible for research and development of new software and hardware for DVSport's Instant Replay products and coaches' video editing stations. As the conference's video coordinator, Reid will work closely with the conference's Coordinator of Football Officials Bill Carollo. Prior to joining DVSport, he worked as a videographer while attending Virginia Tech. He earned his bachelor's degree in marketing management in 2005.
