Player of the Week
Mike Kalina, Northwestern

Kalina takes home the first weekly honor of his career after leading Northwestern to a series win over Cal State Northridge. The senior batted .500 (7-for-14) on the weekend, recording three multi-hit games. Kalina also scored and drove in at least one run in each contest, combining for five runs scored and eight RBI on the weekend. With a double, a triple and a home run against the Matadors, the outfielder posted a .929 slugging percentage. Kalina's best game came in the season opener as he went 3-for-6 with four RBI, three runs scored, and fell a double shy of the cycle in the 13-7 Wildcat win. Northwestern has opened the last six consecutive seasons with a student-athlete earning Big Ten Player of the Week recognition.

Pitcher of the Week
J.B. Shuck, Ohio State
Jr., P, Galion, Ohio/Galion
Shuck earns the first Pitcher of the Week award of his career after leading Ohio State to a 1-0 victory over Memphis at the Service Academies Spring Classic in Millington, Tenn., on Saturday. The junior recorded a career-high nine strikeouts in six innings of work and scattered just two hits and two walks in the effort. The Galion, Ohio, native did not allow a run to the Tigers, who made an appearance in the 2007 NCAA Championship. The honor marks the first time since 2000 that a Buckeye pitcher has been awarded to open the season.
