PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Doug Pickens, Michigan
SO, OF, West Bloomfield, Mich./Brother Rice

Pickens hit .455 (5-for-11) in Michigan's first three games of the season in the Wiregrass Classic hosted by Troy University. The sophomore had the game-winning hit in U-M's 7-5 win over host Troy with a two-out double in the seventh inning. Pickens was 2-for-4 in the season opener vs. UAB and was 2-for-4 with U-M's first homer of the season and a double against South Alabama. Pickens currently has a five-game hit streak and is third on the team with his .455 batting average.  He also leads the team with a .909 slugging percentage with 10 total bases in 11 at bats.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jay Buente, Purdue
SR, P, Evansville, Ind./Reitz HS

Making his first outing as the Friday starter for the Boilermakers, Buente dominated the batting order from Louisiana-Lafayette in a 5-1 opening-day win. In eight innings, Buente allowed just two hits and struck out a career-high 11 batters. Buente did not allow a hit until the fifth inning with two outs.
