Roberts batted .563 (9-for-16) as Michigan State took three games from Ohio State over the weekend. The freshman recorded multiple hits in all four contests, including a 3-for-5 performance in the series finale on Sunday. Roberts tallied five RBI in four games and also contributed a pair of runs. In Game 1 of the series, he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double, and followed up the outing by going 2-for-3 with a two-run single in Game 2.  In the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader, Roberts was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. The award is the first of Roberts' career and the first for a Spartan position player this season.

Whitehill tossed seven innings of shutout ball as Penn State defeated Purdue, 4-1, on Saturday. The junior struck out a season-high seven batters and did not allow a walk as he recorded a scoreless start for the third time this season. The win was the second in a row for the right-hander as he is 4-0 in his last five starts, all of which have been for Nittany Lion victories. Penn State has posted a win in each of Whitehill's five conference starts this season. Receiving his first career weekly honor, Whitehill is the fourth different Penn State pitcher to be recognized this year.
