ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Minnesota baseball team won the outright Big Ten Championship following its 5-3 win over Rutgers on Friday. The Gophers, who also earned the top seed in next week’s Big Ten Tournament, secured their 24th conference title in program history and first since 2016.
In taking the first two games with the Scarlet Knights, No. 12 Minnesota (37-13, 18-4 Big Ten) won each of its eight Big Ten Conference series in 2018 and ten-straight series overall. Head coach John Anderson won his 11th Big Ten regular season title with the victory.
The 2018 Big Ten Baseball Tournament will be played at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., from May 23-27, and will feature the top eight teams in the final conference standings. All-session and single-session tickets are on sale and can be purchased here.
