With a doubleheader sweep of Iowa on Saturday, May 20, at Ray Fisher Stadium, the Michigan baseball team locked up its first Big Ten title since 1997 and 33rd overall league championship. Eric Rose (left), who had three hits in the opener, singled to lead off the eighth and eventually scored on Adam Abraham's two-out hit for the dramatic win as Chris Fetter and Ben Jenzen shut out the Hawkeyes. In the second game, Mike Schmidt hit a three-run homer for the Wolverines, who will host the Big Ten Tournament starting Wednesday, May 24.
