2:33 p.m.: Last chance for the Spartans who trail 16-5 headed into the top of the ninth.
2:18 p.m.: We're through seven and it's 16-4, Illinois. Pete Cappetta and Josh Parr each have four hits for the Illini, while Cappetta has scored four runs and Parr has driven in four. Right-hander Aaron Martin on to pitch for Illinois in the top of the eighth.
1:58 p.m.: Fighting Illini tack on four more and hold a 12-4 lead. Kurtis Frymier on to pitch for MSU.
1:51 p.m.: Illinois has extended its lead to 8-4 with one out in the bottom of the sixth. Runners on first and second.

1:33 p.m.: The double forces MSU starter Moody from the game. Now on for the Spartans, right-hander A.J. Dunn (2-3, 6.21 ERA).
1:31 p.m.: Illinois tacks on another on a double down the left-field line off the bat of freshman Josh Parr. Illini up, 6-4, with one out in the fifth and runners on first and second.
1:25 p.m.: The Spartans go down in order and we're officially halfway through. Illinois still leads, 5-4.
1:20 p.m.: Fun Fact - Eric Roof's grand slam in the third was the first in Huntington Park history.
1:16 p.m.: The Fighting Illini grabbed a one-run lead with a five-run fourth. Across the lines it's four runs on three hits and an error for Michigan State and five runs on eight hits and an error for Illinois.
1:12 p.m.: First-team All-Big Ten shortsop Brandon Wikoff ties the game with a single to right. Runners at the corners and two away.
1:10 p.m.: Illinois gets another back on an RBI single by Casey McMurray. Runners on the corners, two out, MSU leads 4-3.
1:07 p.m.: Illinois' Pete Cappetta rips a double to center, driving in a pair to cut Michigan State's lead in half.
1:03 p.m.: Argo rips a double into left-center, moving Aaron Johnson to third. Two runniers in scoring position and no outs for the Illini in the bottom of the fourth.
1:00 p.m.: Three-up, three-down for Michigan State in the top of the fourth.
12:54: For Illinois in the bottom of the third, 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 2 left on in the bottom of the third. MSU's Moody walks two, but gets out of it to keep his squad up, 4-0, through three complete.

12:44: Eric Roof gets MSU on the board with a two-out grand slam to right-center.

12:05 p.m.: Lineups are being announced and the teams are taking the field. Beautiful and sunny with a slight breeze blowing from right to left.
