Ohio State vs. Minnesota Game Quotes
May 25, 2007
Ohio State Head Coach Bob Todd On the game ... "We made some mistakes you just can't make and we were able to overcome it. That's what I told them at the end. We showed a great deal of character, we showed a lot of determination. We've talked all year long that this team has got to go pitch-by-pitch, play-by-play, inning by inning, and I think that they went about that tonight."
On getting the game winning hit ... "I was going. I knew I had to get a hit and I knew I had to beat that out because there were two outs. I was on my horse. I had a couple of hits tonight but I only hit two balls hard all night so things just worked out well for us." I felt pure exhilaration, it felt amazing. The guys just battled so hard all night - we just didn't give up. It just felt good to come from behind and win another ball game." Minnesota Head Coach John Anderson On the unpredictability of tonight's game ... "It was a wild game. A lot of things happened out there -- too many to count really. We had some bad hop ground balls and there were some walks. We had a 9-5 lead and didn't close them out. We let them back into the game because we walked them and didn't make some plays on defense. It was a typical Ohio State-Minnesota game, I guess. In the Big Ten tournament they're all wild and this was another one of them. Unfortunately, we lost the game on an infield single. It's a tough way to lose the game but what are you going to do, you have to regroup and come back to play tomorrow." On bouncing back to play Penn State tomorrow afternoon ... "We've been pretty resilient all year. I don't see that being a problem at all. We'll bounce back and be fine. We'll get ourselves ready to play here and play a better game tomorrow." On if tonight's long game placed a toll on the pitching staff ... "We're still ok. We have some arms left. We've only played two games. It'll get harder as you go along here, but we do have some pitching left. We're swinging the bats well, so we'll have to have our offense carry us."
