Illinois catcher Chris Robinson, a two-time All-Big Ten First Team honoree, was the first Conference standout drafted as he went to the Detroit Tigers in the third round with the 90th overall pick. The next five Big Ten student-athletes chosen all played for Michigan this season, including second baseman Chris Getz (4th round) and pitchers Clayton Richard (8th), Derek Feldkamp (9th), Jim Brauer (9th) and Michael Penn (11th). The Wolverines led the way with seven overall selections over the two-day event, followed by the Illini with five picks and Minnesota with four players chosen.
