2012 Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year Award Nominee - Pudue's Kevin Plawecki

Kevin Plawecki is Purdue's nominee for the Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year award.

Through Monday, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference's Jesse Owens Male and Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced live on BTN's season-ending awards show on Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Kevin Plawecki - Purdue - Baseball
Plawecki garnered many awards this season after leading Purdue to its first Big Ten title since 1909 and first-ever Big Ten Tournament title. The junior was named Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and earned a spot on the Collegiate Baseball Second Team All-America list. He led the Big Ten with 20 doubles and 54 runs scored while guiding the Boilermakers to a school-record 45 wins. Plawecki was picked 35th overall in the MLB Draft by the New York Mets.
