Big Ten Athlete of the Year Nominee - ILL's Justin Parr

Parr led the Illini to their second NCAA Tournament berth in the last three years.

Through Tuesday, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference's Athlete of the Year awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced on Wednesday.

Justin Parr - Illinois - Baseball
Parr collected numerous awards this season after leading Illinois to its second NCAA Tournament berth in the last three years. The senior was tabbed Big Ten Player of the Year and was named a Louisville Slugger First-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. He was also named a semifinalist for USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Dick Howser Trophy, honoring the National Player of the Year. Parr turned in the second-longest hitting streak in the NCAA in 2013 with a school-record mark of 33 games, hitting .420 during that span.
