Nine Big Ten baseball players were named to the 2009 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch Llist, the College Baseball Foundation announced on Friday. Among the field are seven All-Big Ten selections from a year ago, including four first-team honorees.

Overall, eight of the Big Ten's 10 teams were represented on the list with Indiana placing two players among the field in battery-mates Matt Bashore (SP) and Josh Phegley (C).

Bashore and Phegley were both first-team All-Conference selections in 2008, with Phegley earning the distinction by unanimous decision. Other first-team All-Big Ten choices on this year's Wallace Watch List include Michigan starting pitcher Chris Fetter and Minnesota outfielder Matt Nohelty.

Rounding out the Big Ten's representation on the Wallace Watch List are Illinois' Brandon Wikoff, Iowa's Justin Toole, Northwestern's Jake Goebbert, Ohio State's Justin Miller and Purdue's Dan Black.
