The second session of the 2006 Big Ten Tournament (BTT) drew a sellout crowd of 18,730 at Conseco Fieldhouse.  It's the first sellout in Indianapolis since session five of the 2002 BTT.

Wisconsin:
Today marks Wisconsin and Indiana's 148th meeting.  This is the first time in two years in the BTT that the Badgers haven't advanced to the finals. The Badgers continue their losing streak in the BTT with their third loss. Wisconsin's all-time record in quarterfinal play is 5-4. The team's overall BTT record is 9-8.  The Badgers beat IU 72-54 on Feb. 6. Wisconsin continues to climb on its single-season offensive rebounds list with a school record 388.

Wisconsin has started the same five players--Tucker, Chappell, Nixon, Taylor, and Butch-- for 29 out of 30 games. The starting lineup's record is 18-11.

For the first time this season the Badgers did not win the game when leading at halftime (12-1).

Leading scorer Alando Tucker has now scored 1,482 points which puts him in seventh  place on UW's all-time list.

Walk-on freshman Kevin Gullikson made his first BTT appearance with a total of 10 points.

Indiana:
Indiana now has a five-game winning streak, the team's longest since it won six in a row from late December through the first two Big Ten games in early January.

IU's all-time record in the BTT is now 8-8. The Hoosiers had lost their last two BTT games.

IU's all-time overall record at Conseco is 12-3. The Hoosiers have been victorious in their last five games in Indianapolis, and have won six of their last seven contests in the Circle City.  The Hoosiers are 3-2 in BTT games at Conseco.

Despite trailing at halftime in each of its last three games, Indiana has emerged victorious.  In the next-to-last game of the regular season, IU overcame a 27-25 halftime deficit at Purdue to win, 70-59. Then, in the regular season finale at Michigan, the Hoosiers bounced back from a 30-27 deficit to win by a score of 69-67.  In today's game, IU trailed by a 19-15 score, before outscoring Wisconsin in the second half, 46-37. Indiana's cumulative second-half shooting in their last three games has been 48 of 78 (.615).

The Hoosiers were held to just 15 points in the first half of their game vs. Wisconsin, the fewest by any team thus far in the 2006 BTT. The average halftime score of the first five BTT games in 2006 has been 27.0 to 21.8.  Penn State and Michigan State have registered the highest halftime point totals thus far in 2006 with 31 points in their respective games.

Indiana is the first of 10 teams in the 2006 BTT to shoot at least 50 percent from the field, and the first to do so in the tournament since Wisconsin did so in the championship game of the 2004 BTT vs. Illinois (24 of 45, .533).

IU coach Mike Davis improved his all-time BTT record to 7-5, including four victories in the quarterfinal round.  His record during the month of March at IU is 21-12 (.636).

IU's Marshall Strickland had two three-pointers vs. Wisconsin, raising his career total to 179, good for fifth place on the Hoosier's list for career three-pointers. Strickland's record-setting free throw shooting suffered a bit today when he converted just two of his four shots from the charity stripe.   For the season, Strickland's free throw percentage is now .890 (65 of 73), setting him well behind Steve Alford's record of .921 during the 1984-85 season.

Indiana now faces Ohio State in Saturday's semifinal round. The Hoosiers defeated the Buckeyes in their only game this season, 81-79, at Bloomington.

The Hoosiers' Marco Killingsworth had 20 points and 12 rebounds vs. Wisconsin, his third double-double of the 2005-06 season.  It was his 10th game this year with at least 20 points. Killingsworth's shooting has been particularly impressive of late, as he has hit 19 of his 28 shots in the last two games and 30 of his 50 shots over the last four games.
