Today was a rematch of the 2002 Big Ten Tournament (BTT) championship game. In that game four years ago, the second-seeded Buckeyes defeated the ninth-seeded Hawkeyes, 81-64.  This year the Hawkeyes reversed the end result, winning 67-60.

Today's game marked only the second time in BTT history that the top two seeds played each other in the championship game. In the 2004 title game, No. 2 Wisconsin topped No. 1 Illinois, 70-53.

For the ninth time in the 10 BTT gamesof 2006, the team with the highest field goal percentage emerged victorious.  Iowa outshot Ohio State 47.3 percent to 41.5 percent in today's game.

Both Illinois and PSU played three games in those respective tournaments.  OSU made 21 of those 85 shots from beyond the arc. The all-time BTT record for successful three-pointers is 26 by Illinois in 1999.
