Brunner averaged 21.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week, while leading the Hawkeyes to a 1-1 record. Brunner opened the week at No. 20/21 Wisconsin, nearly tying his career best with a game-high 27 points and going 12-of-21 from the field (.571) against the Badgers. He followed with another solid performance in a 64-54 victory over Northwestern, shooting 60 percent (6-of-10) in the first half, including a 3-of-4 effort from the three-point line (.750). The Charles City, Iowa native finished the contest scoring in double figures for the 12th consecutive game with 16 points, while adding four rebounds and three steals against the Wildcats. Brunner currently leads the Hawkeyes in scoring (14.7 ppg) and ranks third in the League in rebounding with 7.9 boards per game. He claims his first career Player of the Week accolade and is the second Iowa standout to earn weekly laurels this season as Jeff Horner was honored on Nov. 29, 2004.
