Michigan State Men's Basketball Clinches at Least a Share of Big Ten Championship
Spartans claim 14th conference title and first since 2012
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's basketball team clinched at least a share of the 2017-18 Big Ten Championship after defeating Illinois, 81-61, at the Breslin Center on Tuesday night. The Spartans are 15-2 in Big Ten play with one game remaining, while every other Big Ten team has at least three conference losses.
Michigan State sophomore Miles Bridges finished with a game-high 19 points while sophomore Joshua Langford scored 16 points. Sophomore Cassius Winston added 12 points and four assists. Junior Leron Black led Illinois with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor.
Michigan State has now won its 14th conference title, and claims its first crown since 2012. The Spartans can secure the outright Big Ten Championship with one more conference win. Michigan State travels to play at Wisconsin in its regular season finale on Sunday afternoon.
